Hey Roadies!
I hope you all are doing well. First off, thanks to each and every one of you who came out to our show at The Cave on August 9th. We had a great time and a great night of music rounded off by our good friends The Pneurotics and Johnny Action Figure out of Reading, PA. It was such a great night and a good time was had by all. The audience was VERY responsive and the vibe just couldn’t be beat. Playing The Cave is just like being home. Thanks to The Cave for our first weekend show and we’ll definitely be doing it again.
In other news we have parted ways with our drummer and we are looking hard for a new drummer. We’re sure this will be a move in the right direction and will help us to grow in the direction that we, as a band, really want to move towards. We wish Marc the best of luck in all his endeavors and we wish him much happiness. Change can be a positive thing and we believe that this is going to be a good change for us as a band.
While we’re auditioning drummers, we are also working on lots of new material, including two brand new songs written by all three of us (our first band collaborations) so we couldn’t be more excited about where we’re heading. The energy levels are really high and positive and we’re very excited for what the future holds for us.
We do have two gigs booked in September and more details will be coming VERY soon. Thank you all so much for supporting Mystery Road and please keep it up. Without you, there is no us!
Safe Travels,
Mystery Road

Hey Roadies!
Hope you all are doing well. So much for a break eh? We’ve managed to do TWO gigs since we decided to take that lil break until August to work on new songs. What we all agreed on was that we wouldn’t plan to do any shows but if shows came our way that were just too good to turn down, we’d do them. This was the case with the last two we did.
Thanks to everyone who came out to Mansion 462 in Chapel Hill. We had so much fun that night opening for HWYL! and the response we got was very positive. So much in fact that we’ve been invited back to perform in September (details coming soon). The venue was fantastic and the staff just treated us like true professionals. Every band should have an experience like that. In addition to that one, Elana and I did a special duo set at The Berkeley Cafe in Raleigh opening for The Kindness of Strangers and Radio Island. It was a great evening of music and while the audience was small and extremely hot (no A/C), we had an absolute blast. The set went really well and once again, the feedback was very positive and folks really enjoyed the set. We had a great time.
So what now? Well, back to our break. We’ve got 3 new originals to work on, I’m even transitioning a few songs to electric guitar to see how they sound and then we hit the gig circuit again with a show at our beloved Cave in Chapel Hill on August 9th with our good friends The Pneurotics! Should be a great time. We are hoping to cut our demo sometime soon but we also figured that it’s best to not rush it so we will not have a demo available for the August 9th show but we will have something VERY special for everyone anyways so just hang in there!
Thanks again to each and every one for all their support and love! We love you all!

Hey ya’ll. Hope all our “roadies” out there are doing well. I have received a few messages lately wondering what we’ve been up to. Well, we’ve been working on some new material and even working on putting some harmony vocals together for some of the songs. All the above is coming along really well but the search for a fiddle player goes on. We have yet to find one but we’re not giving up. Ira stated that if we were in West Virginia that they would be kicking the doors in to audition since there are so many fiddlers up there. So if any of you are ever in WV and see a great fiddler, put him/her in your trunk and bring him/her to us. We’ll hook you up with some PBR and a few hits from my flask full of Bushmills!
In other news, on July 11th, Elana & I will be representing Mystery Road as a duo at the Berkeley Cafe opening for Radio Island. Since the other half of us will be at the Allgood Festival, the band decided it would be a fun and cool way to represent the band and play our songs to a new audience. So if you all are free on July 11th, c’mon out and check out the Mystery Road 1/2! I’ll have more details in the next day or two so be sure to look out for our newsletter making it’s way to your Inbox!
Thanks for checkin’ in and we hope to see ya’ll on the 11th.

Hey there Roadies!
First off, thanks so much to all of you who came out to our first couple of shows and showed your support. We had a really great show on Friday night with our friends Birds & Arrows @ The Open Eye Cafe in Carrboro. There was a great and responsive audience and even though our technical woes (couldn’t hear a thing), we turned out a fun show and really enjoyed ourselves. With that being said, it’s time to take a lil break and regroup.
We are going to be working on some new material and discussing future plans for the band but fear not, we will return to the stage (or floor) on August 9th at The Cave with our new friends The Pneurotics. They are a great 3 piece indie rock band and we are really looking forward to performing with them for the first time. It should be a great time. Mouse and The Cave has been great to us so it’ll be great to get back there and rock out once again.
Please keep up with our lil blog here and we’ll be sure to fill you all in with all the news! Thanks again to you all and we’ll be seeing ya’ll REAL soon!

Greetings fellow Roadies!
Once again, thank you all so much to each and every one of you who came out to show you’re support on our big debut at The Cave on May 1st. After taking a week off, we regrouped last night to work on two new songs for the set and I have to say that it went incredibly well. We had a blast and we were so excited to be working on new material (one cover and one new original).
Our next show is on Friday, May 30th. We were invited to perform with our good friends Birds & Arrows a the Open Eye Cafe and we couldn’t be more excited. We had so much fun w/ them last time and this time should be no different. We’ll post details as soon as we get them so stay tuned!
Until next time, keep on smilin’!

Thanks to each and every one of you who came out to The Cave on Thursday night to show your love and support on our big debut. The Cave was packed full friends and family and new converts and the energy just couldn’t be topped. This show was DEFINITELY up to “11″. Lots of smiles were made, lots of hugs were exchanged and my flask saw more lips than an undergrad at a Frat Party. It was amazing!
The show was a blast and I think I can speak for the entire band when I say that we had the time of our lives up there. It was such an amazing vibe and we truly appreciate all of the great messages of positivity, congrats and encouragement. We will take all of this in and use it to be the best band we can be! Thank you all a million times.
Also, a REALLY HUGE thank you goes out to our friends Birds & Arrows and Nightstick.
We were so lucky and excited to have such talented bands share this special night with us. It really made for a fantastically fun night of music. So much so that we’re gonna repeat it with Birds & Arrows on May 30th at the Open Eye Cafe. More to come on that one as we get details in. Be sure to check out both the bands and hear their amazing material.
Again, a million thanks to all of you for coming out and making the night that much more magical. Oh yeah, and be sure to check out the photos of our show taken by the super talented eye of Mike Bamford.
Mike, big ups to you brother for such a great job on the photos!
Peace to you all and see ya’ll really soon!

Go see local music, support your local scene and again, we love each and every one of you!

Ira and I went to check out our friends Downhome Groove on Thursday. They were doing an acoustic show on the deck at Oh Brians and they did an fantastic show. Great folks. I was totally caught off guard though when Nick said “I’d like to bring up Don from Mystery Road to do a few songs and talk about their debut gig on May 1st!”. I was floored and caught off guard. I got up there and did three Mystery Road tunes and “Brokedown Palace” by The Grateful Dead and it went over REALLY well. The audience just started coming up to Ira and I asking about the band and all that good stuff. Ya know, it’s says a ton about a band that takes a portion of their show to let someone else from some other band play a few songs and plug an upcoming show. It was a cool feeling. I love those guys!
Nick also hooked us up with the posters he made for us to promote the show:

Doesn’t that look ass? Thanks a ton Nick for these awesome posters!
We are REALLY excited about the upcoming show and with just two more rehearsals to go, I REALLY wanna see us do well on this show but at the same time, I want it to be fun. I just want to have a great time and celebrate our new lives as a band and celebrate the lives of these songs. I want people dancing and having a great time and I want to be the soundtrack of a fun evening. I think we are gonna be just fine! Just have to remember WHY we do this…

As you can all imagine, we are EXTREMELY excited about our debut at The Cave in Chapel Hill on May Day (May 1st). We are really excited about sharing the bill with two really great bands this night. Going first that night will be our friends Birds & Arrows out of Chapel Hill. We will follow them with a set of original material and then closing the night will be our friends, a great psychedelic Rock trio out of Chapel Hill called Nightstick. This is going to be a fantastic night of music and we couldn’t be more pumped for this! The show starts at 10:00pm and there will be a $5.00 cover so please c’mon out and celebrate with us won’t ya?
Peace & Music

Greetings roadies! Hope you all are doing well. All here in Mystery Road is fine but there was a slight disturbance in the force as sickness once again sidelined us for a week. I have to say, I was absolutely miserable without these cats on Wednesday. I pouted like a kid who’s birthday just got rained out. haha! It’s a good thing though as I really missed these guys (and gal)!
We will be back on track this week rehearsing the set and discussing our next move into the gigging world. We are all unanimously excited to entertain you all and show you all just what we’ve been cooking up over the past few months. I can hardly sleep sometimes that I’m so excited.
Stay tuned and we’ll be seeing you all REALLY soon!
